PSA Technology is a mature technology dating back to the 1970s with thousands of plants operating worldwide. The process works by separating nitrogen from air (78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen) through adsorption of oxygen using Carbon Molecular Sieves (CMS).

Step 1: Adsorption - Prefiltered compressed air passes through a CMS-filled vessel where oxygen is adsorbed, producing nitrogen.

Step 2: Desorption - When CMS becomes saturated, the process switches to another vessel while the saturated bed begins desorption.

Step 3: Regeneration - Nitrogen from the active vessel purges the saturated vessel to regenerate the CMS for the next cycle.
